WHY SWERVE SWEETENER AS A SUGAR REPLACEMENT
3

March 30th of 2018 I was in the hospital for 11 days with pancreatitis and left there with the title of Type 2 Diabetic. In an effort to re shape my life I began taking Shaklee vitamins and supplements and changed my eating habits. 6 months later I was off the 34 units of insulin with an A1C of 5.6 and have not looked back. I swore off of alcohol, carb laden foods and of course, sweets. I tried a number of substitutes but the after taste left me wanting. I heard of Swerve and gave it a try. I loved it! No nasty after taste, no blood sugar spikes, no cravings and once again I could drink coffee! I was quite happy. I know a few people that do experience an after taste to Swerve but they are few. Give it a try if you are diabetic or just want to step away from the sugar shackles.

WHAT IS SWERVE MADE OF?
4

Swerve is basically a brand of powdered erythritol? While there are other sugar free brands using powdered erythritol blends in their sugar free sweetener, I love this brand.

According to the Swerve website, Swerve is made from ingredients found in select fruits and starchy root vegetables, and contains no artificial ingredients, preservatives or flavors. It’s zero-calorie, non-glycemic and safe for those living with diabetes, since it has no effect on blood glucose or insulin levels.

They use non GMO raw materials, which are fermented in brewery tanks, which naturally creates erythritol. Enzymes are added to the starchy root vegetables, which break down the starch and create oligosaccharides. Erythritol and olgiosaccharides and a little citrus flavor are the only ingredients in Swerve.

HOW DO YOU USE SWERVE?
5

Swerve suggests using its product in recipes one to one. I however do not. I have found that a 1/2 cup of Swerve per cup of sugar does fine. Play around with it as peoples tastes are different, but I have found that halfing the sugar is just right for me.

WHAT IS SERVE CONFECTIONER’S SUGAR?
6

Swerve makes an amazing confectioner’s sugar which is very fine and works exactly like regular confectioner’s sugar, only you use less.

WHAT KINDS OF SWEETENER DOES SWERVE MAKE?
7

They make granulated, confectioner’s and brown sugar. If you only have the granulated, I think it’s good idea to run it through your processor if your desserts are going to be refrigerated. This is my personal opinion, and why using the confectioner’s sugar (same erythritol), but processed finer can be used in all recipes.

IS SWERVE A SAFE SWEETENER?
8

In a word, yes but I refer you to Swerve’s Website for the answers here.

IS SWERVE THE SAME AS STEVIA?
9

When you’re counting carbs you do not need to count the carbs in swerve sweetener because they pass through the body. When I am figuring out the carbs in my desserts I eliminate the carbs from Swerve. Read their F.A.Q. health and safety answers here.

WHERE CAN I FIND SWERVE?
10

Most all Publix groceries carry Swerve. Some may only have the granulated or granulated and confectioner’s. The brown sugar can be tough to find but if you have a Publix near you they do carry it in warehouse so they should be able to order it. If not, or if you cannot find it at your local store, there is always Amazon! 😀
